The Downey Youth Commission serves in an advisory capacity to the Downey City Council and comprises of 15 high school student representatives who reside in the City of Downey.
The goals of the Downey Youth Commission are to provide:
- Leadership development;
- Civic/local government education;
- Youth input to the City Council; and
- Completion of annual assignments/priorities from the City Council.

The Youth Commission is currently accepting District 1 applications for the 24/25 School Year ! Deadline to submit is Friday, August 16th at 4:00pm to the City Clerks Office located on the 3rd Floor of Downey City Hall 11111 Brookshire Ave.
