Access Services

Access Services administers the Los Angeles County Coordinated Paratransit Plan on behalf of the County’s 46 public fixed route operators.  Access facilitates the provision of complementary ADA paratransit services to certain persons with disabilities as required by 42 U.S.C. §12143 under the name “Access Paratransit.”  Paratransit is an alternative mode of flexible passenger transportation that does not follow fixed routes or schedules. Typically, vans or mini-buses are used to provide paratransit service.  Please visit Access' website for more information.

 

Los Angeles Metro - Bus Stops

Los Angeles Metro - C Line / Green Line

The Metro Green Line has a stop/station in the City of Downey called the Lakewood Blvd Station. 

The Southeast Route of the Downey LINK will embark and disembark passengers at a stop south of the C/Green Line - Lakewood Blvd Station on Gardendale St.  east of Lakewood Blvd.

Metro’s On the Move Rider’s Program helps older adults get comfortable and knowledgeable with public transportation (bus and rail) in Los Angeles County.

 

Long Beach Transit

Long Beach Transit's Bus Route 22 travels into Downey, at the Lakewood Blvd Greenline station. Please visit their website for more information. 

 

Los Angeles Metro - Metro Micro

Micro is Metro’s new on-demand rideshare service, offering trips within several zones in LA County. The new service is for short local trips and uses small vehicles (seating up to 10 passengers). The City has installed electric vehicle charging stations available for public use at the following locations:

  • Furman Park
  • Wilderness Park
  • Rio San Gabriel Park
  • Discovery Park/Columbia Memorial Space Center
  • Independence Park
  • Rio Hondo Golf Course
  • Barbara J Riley Community and Senior Center/Apollo Park
  • Downey City Hall
  • Downey City Library         

Use of the charging stations is available to the general public by signing up for an account at www.chargepoint.com
