If you answered yes to any of those questions and you are at least in middle school, then the Volunteer Program is for you! The opportunities are endless within City Hall's various departments such as: Planning, Engineering, Human Resources, Fire Prevention, and Finance. You could also be assigned to work at the youth programs at various park sites, city wide special events, or summer day camps. Individuals interested in volunteering at City Hall must be in high school or an adult.

There is a $15 volunteer shirt fee. Individuals must go through a fingerprinting/background screening before an assignment is made. Please read the Volunteer Interest Form for additional requirements. Information or questions please call (562) 904-7223.

 

Steps to Become a Volunteer

If you are interested in volunteering at City Hall or one of our park sites, please follow the steps below. When space becomes available, those who submitted an interest form will be notified via email.

  • Fill out a “Volunteer Interest Form
    • Email the “Volunteer Interest Form” to the Volunteer Coordinator, Ashley Doshi (adoshi@downeyca.org)
  • Attend the volunteer training via ZOOM
    • The ZOOM link will be sent to individuals who submitted an interest form.
  • Get fingerprinted (free of charge)
  • Pay the $15 volunteer shirt fee
