The Field Operations Division is the largest division in the Department, accounting for nearly 70% of our personnel. Field Operations consists of Uniform Patrol, Traffic, Communications, and Special Operations. It is comprised of two shifts, each under the direction of a Watch Commander, responsible for providing the City with 24-hour patrol and first response to crimes and requests for service.

Our goal is to proactively engage with the community working together to address crime and chronic quality of life issues. The Field Operations Division is dedicated to being responsive to the citizens we serve. We value our ongoing relationships with the community and this site gives us an additional point of contact. Working together is the key to a safe and prosperous Downey.
